HOIC/SCE Community Scholarships ProgramThe ProgramThe HOIC/SCE Community Scholarships Program recognizes and encourages the academic achievement of high school seniors graduating from schools in communities where HOIC/SCE has a presence. Twelved high school seniors will receive non-renewable scholarships of $1,000. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, gender, disability, or national origin. EligibilityApplicants to the program must -
AwardsUp to twelve $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. Recipients must enter college as a full-time student in the fall term following selection. Awards are for full-time undergraduate study only and are not renewable. Application ProcedureInterested students attending Roland-Story, Nevada, Gilbert, Colo-Nesco, East Marshall, Grinnell, Lynnville-Sully, North Mahaska, Newton, or Pella Christian schools must submit a completed application to their school guidance office by April 1, 2010. Students attending other schools should submit a completed application to HOIC/SCE Sully office by April 1, 2010. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. All information received is considered confidential. Selection of RecipientsScholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients attending Roland-Story, Gilbert, Colo-Nesco, East Marshall, Grinnell, Lynnville-Sully, North Mahaska, Newton, or Pella Christian schools is made by their school. Selection of recipients attending other schools is by the Scholarship Committee of HOIC/SCE. The scholarship recipients will be notified at their school’s award night. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Payment of ScholarshipsPayment for the entire scholarship award is made on August 2, 2010. A check is mailed to the recipient's home address and is made payable jointly to the student and the college and must be endorsed by both. ObligationsRecipients have no obligation to HOIC/SCE. They are, however, required to supply HOIC/SCE with information when requested and to notify HOIC/SCE of any changes of address, school enrollment, or other relevant information. RevisionsHOIC/SCE reserves the right to review and make changes to the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program, including termination of the program.
