2014 is officially here and it’s time to start looking at your planter. Your planter is a high performance machine, not an endurance machine. It’s important to inspect your planter and look at components such as chains, bearings, bushings, and disc openers. As we have heard so many times before ‘You only get one chance to do it right when it comes to planting.’ Not sure what to look for? Contact your local CENTROL Precision Ag Specialist and schedule a planter inspection with one our Planter Experts.
One of the most overlooked components on a planter is the seed meter. The seed meter is an essential part of proper seed placement by providing maximum singulation and spacing. In recent years, planting data has taught us that every 1% of singulation costs us 1.5 bushel per acre. 95-97% singulation sounds like a good number, but you could be losing 5 to 7.5 bushels per acre! Most meter components begin to show wear and performance degradation at 150-200 acres per row. Let us help with this!
Using your recommendation of seed size, CENTROL will simulate your planter speed and target population. A live comparison and scorecard will then be created based on the performance which will guide us to make the proper adjustments to reach its highest potential.
CENTROL has the ability to run any meter currently on the market and with our mobile test stand, we can come right to your farm. Contact us now to schedule your meter calibration.
