Being an essential business partnermeans consistently improving capacity and capability for the members of the cooperative. After two years of research and planning and another year for construction, Key Cooperative is ready to introduce members to their state-of-the art, 35 acre, Grinnell Agronomy Center.
For years, the Grinnell area has been serviced by surrounding Key Cooperative locations. Today, product flows into the Grinnell area from several locations; each nearing their operational capacity to serve not only their own customers but the growing Grinnell area as well. The added capacity of this project will open new opportunities and relieve pressure on other locations, allowing Key to deliver value and service to members from day-one.
The project features a 21,000 ton dry fertilizer terminal and a centralized office warehouse with over 55,000 square feet of seed, crop protection and liquid fertilizer storage. The dry plant’s 300 ton blend tower and weigh hoppers will provide for over 200 tons per hour output. The 1.65 million gallons of liquid fertilizer storage along with extensive automation will provide state-of-the-art load-out speed and capacity. There is also a liquid fertilizer auto-loading bay for 24/7 customer access. The seed warehouse, bulk handling and treatment equipment will provide both speed and convenience to Grinnell and surrounding area customers. The office is designed with large areas for customer meetings and employee training.
