Walmart awards $35,000 grant to Farm Rescue

Farm Rescue, a one-of-a-kind nonprofit organization that provides planting, harvesting and haying assistance free of charge to farm families who have experienced a major illness, injury or natural disaster, has received a grant totaling $35,000 from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program.

Walmart has awarded more than $325,000 to Farm Rescue since 2006.

“Walmart has been a major sponsor of Farm Rescue since we started helping farm families in times of unexpected crises,” said Bill Gross, president and founder of Farm Rescue. “The strong community support that Walmart has shown throughout the years clearly indicates that they are a responsible and caring business providing opportunities and assistance within our communities. I commend their philanthropic endeavors.”

“A thriving farming sector is essential to a healthy economy and our global food chain,” said Sharon Power, Walmart regional general manager. “We’re proud to support the important work Farm Rescue is doing to help farm families recover from unexpected challenges and maintain their productivity.”
