Land O’Lakes, Inc. donated 40,000 pounds of LAND O LAKES® Reduced Fat Macaroni and Cheese to Food Bank of Iowa through the Land O’Lakes First Run Program.

The First Run Program has donated more than 6 million pounds of dairy and dairy-related products since 2010. This generous and targeted program is committed to donating truckloads of nourishing food to food banks in the United States, product which is made specifically to help food banks alleviate hunger in their communities.

“As a national, farmer-owned cooperative, Land O’Lakes is committed to helping the growing number of people who struggle to put food on their table,” said Sheilah Stewart, SVP & General Counsel, Land O’Lakes, Inc. “The First Run program provides a unique opportunity for Land O’Lakes to offer nutritious products to families in need.”

This LAND O LAKES® Macaroni and Cheese donation is a great addition to the food bank’s inventory due to ease of preparation for busy hard-working families and kids at home over the summer.  Simply defrost the five-pound bag of fully cooked, reduced fat Macaroni and Cheese and heat in the microwave or boiling water to desired serving temperature.

“I am grateful for Land O’Lakes and their cooperative members – farm families across the United States putting food on the table for neighbors whose plates would otherwise be empty,” said Michelle Book, president and CEO of Food Bank of Iowa. “This is an extremely thoughtful donation – nutritious with a long shelf life and simple preparation.”
