Purina® has two very useful show feed products to help maximize your livestock projects for upcoming shows this summer. High Octane® Fitter 35® and High Octane® Fitter® 52 are designed for animals who are overweight or need more muscle expression.
High Octane Fitter 35 contains 35% protein and is high in amino acids which develop and add muscle. It’s an ideal product for strengthening toplines and loin expression. It makes sheep, goats and cattle feel more prominent of muscle in their loin and over their ribs when judges “handle” them. Many animals become more three dimensional in their overall look when their muscle is more prominent and Fitter 35 helps with that considerably.
Fitter 52, as the name implies, is higher in protein (52%). It is a “fat burner” and much more aggressive in trimming fat on animals that may be older or “easier fleshing.” Many judges talk about having animals “fresh” or “younger in their appearance” and that is where Fitter 52 can be a game changer. It’s a very useful product to help trim up jowls and underlines in show pigs and the neck and brisket area in cattle. As a caution, just remember this product is very aggressive so if you have animals that are “borderline” in their fat content you may use Fitter 35 rather than Fitter 52 because it will definitely pull fat off their body.
Both of these products become more aggressive and more useful when combined with a good exercise program, especially in sheep and goats. Both products are good for show pigs, sheep, goats and cattle and are available at Key Cooperative. Good luck this summer!
